Design Team member Amy Estes takes her turn at center stage today, as we introduce you, in-depth in their own words, to each of Scrapbook Generation's talented group.

Design Team Member #3: Amy Estes
Occupation: second grade teacher
Spouse: Ryan
Children: None, but a great dog, Harley!
Hobbies other than scrapbooking: Lake life, running, reading

-- How long have you been scrapbooking?
About six years.
-- When and where do you usually scrapbook?
When - every day - whenever I can! I have a room in the basement -- used to be a spare, but now I've overtaken the whole space! Only really, really special friends or my mom stay in that room!
-- How many pages do you complete in an average month?
Depends. Anywhere from 4-26.
-- What do you enjoy most about scrapbooking?
I am not an artist by any means. But I have always enjoyed making things, and I have especially always LOVED pictures. Scrapbooking has provided me a creative outlet I can use to combine my love of photos, people, places, and memories. It started as a hobby, and has now become a vital part of my life. No matter how I am feeling on any given day, I can open one of my scrapbooks, look at one of my magazines, create a layout, or simply sit in my "room," and I find that my attitude is positive, and I just look forward to sharing, living, and loving every minute of my life!
-- Describe your scrapbooking style.
I wish I had a word for my style, but it changes all the time. I think I would call my style eclectic. Other words I would use to describe my style would be balanced, urban, chic, fun, and unique.
--Why did being on the Design Team at Scrapbook Generation appeal to you?
I love scrapbooking, and I want to find a way to make it my job. I would love to use my photography skills, and I would love to make albums for people.
-- Why is Scrapbook Generation your favorite scrapbook store?
I love Karin and Debbie! They are always so nice! I love the layout of the store -- so easy to find what I'm looking for. I have also enjoyed the layout contests, and I just like it here, for no other reason than that.

Several items of note this week at Scrapbook Generation...

Last weekend's garage sale here at SG: I'll have to say I was skeptical of the whole thing, but let myself get talked into trying it...and I'm glad I gave in. The event was a success, and reminded me of an actual garage sale, with crowds rushing in first thing in the morning. The shoppers got great bargains, and the ladies who had "booths" raked in quite a bit of money. We'll definitely have one again in a few months.

Eureka Springs retreat starting November 3: The deadline to sign up has passed, but we're going to keep the registration open for a while anyway. Because the location we have is huge, we aren't dealing with the space restraints we had in Branson, and we have some time before we have to commit to the number of hotel rooms. So if you or anyone you know wants to sign up, you still can. For more information, see the earlier posts on this blog, or call us.

Scrapbook Generation classes: We have some great classes coming up the next few weeks...Jennifer Mattix is teaching a really cute clothespin photo holder class Tuesday the 22nd, Allison Davis is teaching a one-page "fun in the sun" layout with techniques using white pens on Thursday the 24th, Laura Parks is teaching an altered canvas wall art on Tuesday the 29th, and Allison is teaching a blooming "flower pot" card class on Thursday the 31st.

BasicGrey hoopla: Last Friday was so much fun! We had women strolling around the store, waiting for the UPS guy to get here, others calling to see if the shipment had arrived, others calling to have us go ahead and make their purchase by credit card and hold it for them, and still others calling to have us ship their purchases to them. There's nothing like BasicGrey addiction, and we were proud to be the first Springfield store to offer the latest collections! Having the blog makes it easy to keep people informed, and I love being able to do that. But nothing still will ever beat a memory of the winter shipment of BasicGrey, back before the blog, when people didn't know for sure when it would arrive. I'll never forget one of our customers coming up the side steps, seeing the BG paper on the "new wall" and then running and jumping and waving her arms the rest of the way into the store! It's fun to have a job that makes people happy!

Today's excitement at Scrapbook Generation:

If not, everything will be out by 4 p.m.) If you want to know for sure before you drop by, just give us a call at 417-886-0440.

Friday will be a great day to shop anyway, because we have a ton of stuff that is ready for our two-day indoor garage sale. Garage sale hours are 10-7 on Friday, and 10-5 on Saturday. I've already seen some of the items and prices, and there are great bargains to be had.
